I am a planetary scientist, which means that my work involves remote sensing of the Earth and other planets. Currently, I am a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Western Ontario., where I am also the coordinator for the newly formed Canadian Lunar Research Network.
I received my Ph.D. from the
Department of Geological Sciences, at
Brown University, in 1999.
Since then, I have had a variety of jobs, including:
Software Tester at Geosoft Inc.,
University of Toronto,
Lecturer at the Department of Geology,
University of Toronto,
Post-Doctoral Research Associate with
Ed Cloutis at the
Department of Geography,
University of Winnipeg,
Science/Community Liaison for the
SeaWiFS
and the SIMBIOS Projects at
NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.
My research revolves around remote sensing applications of planetary solid surfaces. This, however, includes a very wide range of issues, such as monitoring land, sea, ice, and biosphere interactions to evaluate current and recent climate change; automation of mineral identification using multi- and hyperspectral data; and identifying and quantifying hidden mare deposits on the Moon (work that evolved from my Ph.D. thesis).
